When presented with the facts about climate change, we couldn't ignore the negative impact our healthcare systems have on the environment. This impact ultimately means that whilst we are treating patients today, we are also contributing to climate change and environmental pollution, which in turn is harming our future patients.
The NHS currently contributes about 5% of the UK's total carbon output, meaning it is directly impacting the health of the very population we are trying to treat. We have come together as we believe we can ignite the change needed to build more sustainable healthcare systems, so we can look after our planet as well as we look after our patients.
Through education, information and guidance we hope to positively impact our workplaces and consequently our planet.
